Prediction markets, without the money at risk.

A prediction market turns a question about the future into a price. Papermarkets carries those prices live and lets you trade them with a paper balance, so you can find out whether your read on an election, a rate decision or a title race actually holds up — before any of it is your money.

If the idea is new, start with what paper trading a prediction market involves. If you already follow a real book, the shorter route is practising against Polymarket’s live odds.

01

Pick a question

Every market is a real-world question with a date attached — an election, a rate decision, a title race. Papermarkets carries thousands of them, priced live.

02

Read the odds

A market trading at 32¢ is the crowd saying it happens about 32% of the time. You are betting against that number, not against the house.

03

Take the other side

Buy the side you think is mispriced. Your position moves with the market until the event resolves — with simulated money, so being wrong costs you nothing but position on the leaderboard.

Questions.

What is a prediction market?
A prediction market prices the probability of a real-world event. Each contract pays out if the event happens, so its price — between 0 and 100 cents — reads directly as the market's estimate of the odds. Traders who disagree with that estimate buy the side they think is cheap, which is what keeps the price honest.
Is Papermarkets real-money betting?
No. Papermarkets is paper trading only. Every account is funded with simulated money, nothing you win can be withdrawn, and there is nothing to deposit. The prices are real and live; the stakes are not.
Where do the odds come from?
Prices track live prediction markets, so the number you see is what real traders are paying right now — not a model's guess and not a bookmaker's line.
How do private games work?
Create a game, choose which categories it carries and what everyone starts with, and share the link. Each player gets their own balance in that game and a leaderboard scored against the same markets. Games run alongside the open monthly competition, so a Papermarkets account can play both.
Do I need to know anything about trading?
No. If you have an opinion about whether something will happen, you can price it. The paper balance exists precisely so the learning curve costs nothing.
